Claudia Dold's summer plans from last year are on track for this summer! She is going back to the 4th century for two weeks, to walk the ruins and enjoy the mosaics. She will be working as faculty on an archaeological site, studying glass fragments that came up in the excavation. You can find Sepphoris on Google Earth at 32 45'09.13N and 35 16'45.97E. Eric Hughes, ALSTAR fellow in LIS and Linguistics and GA at the Library, will be attending a summer program in Portuguese language and culture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth throughout the month of July. Mr. Hughes has also established an internship at the Portuguese-American Archives located at the university where he will work on a variety of potential projects ranging from evaluating the Portuguese collection to working with the archives of the Brazilian Cultural center which were recently donated there. This internship was established by Mr. Hughes and the Portuguese Archivist at the university in response to a job posting that was open before the Christmas holidays. A modest scholarship has been awarded to assist with the cost of the courses in the summer program. Last summer, Mr. Hughes served as a USF Global Ambassador, which constituted an internship at the Fulbright Commission in Lisbon, Portugal.
